Dhaka, September 1: Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that Tk 45 thousand crore have been spent on corona vaccination. "Many countries do not offer free vaccinations. People there had to buy with money. We have given free vaccination to all people. This is possible because the Prime Minister is in power," he said as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of various health facilities in Comilla and six surrounding districts at Comilla District Civil Surgeon office on Thursday (September 1) around 12:30 noon.

The health minister said that doctors-nurses should maintain a good interpersonal relationship. Regular supervision should be done. If you keep the hospital a little clean, if you keep the equipment working, you will see that the hospital has become international standard.

He said, "Many people asked me to give auto pass to medical students during the pandemic. I made it clear, no we won't. There will be an exam, the medical students will have to pass through the exam."

Highlighting the improvement of healthcare, the minister said that one does not need to go to Dhaka for better treatment. "Now all treatment is possible in Comilla. All the people of Bangladesh are under medical treatment, no one is out of treatment. EPI vaccination did not exist before. Currently, apart from government hospitals, private hospitals and clinics are providing good medical services. No one goes abroad for bypass surgery anymore, it is being done in the country. The current DG of Health is from Comilla. In other districts, if not in the minister's district, it must be available in the DG's district."

He said, there is an outbreak of TB. Two-three lakh people are affected, about 50 thousand die annually. As 100 people die daily, they don't get space in newspapers, they get space if one-two people die due to Covid. It becomes the headline of the newspaper.

At that time Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Dr. Abul Basar Khurshid Alam, District Civil Surgeon Mir Mubarak Hossain and other officials of District Health Department were present. The minister later announced the inauguration of various health facilities in Comilla and six surrounding districts.
