Tk 50 commemorative note released on the occasion of Metro Rail inauguration

Dhaka, December 28: Bangladesh Bank has printed a commemorative note of Tk 50 to mark the inauguration of Bangladesh's first elevated metro rail.

This information was shared by the central bank on Tuesday (December 27). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially released this commemorative note at the inauguration ceremony of the Metrorail on Wednesday (December 28).

According to the central bank, after the release, these commemorative notes will be available at Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank and later at other branches from December 29.

The design and security features of the Tk 50 commemorative note printed on the occasion of the inauguration of Bangladesh's first elevated metro rail are - The 130 mm and 60 mm size commemorative note signed by the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Abdur Rauf Talukder, has the portrait of the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on the left side of the front and the photo of the metro rail in the background.

Another image of Metrorail has been added on the back of the note. On the front side of the note are printed the headlines 'Banchbe Somoy, Baachbe Poribesh, Janjat Komabe Metrorail' and 'Moving People, Saving Time and Environment' on the back.

The obverse side of the note has commemorative note value '50' in English on the top right and left corner, Bengali value '50' on the bottom right corner and 'Ponchas (Fifty) Taka' in the middle on the top. The back of the note has '50' written in English at the top left corner and 'Taka 50' in Bengali at the bottom left corner and 'Bangladesh Bank' at the right side. Besides, the note has 'Bangladesh Bank Monogram' on the top right corner and Fifty Taka on the bottom right and Bangladesh Bank written on the bottom right.

Printed on 100 percent cotton paper, the Tk 50 commemorative note has a 2 mm wide security thread to the right of the Prime Minister's portrait on the obverse side and 'Portrait of Bangabandhu', '50' and 'Bangladesh Bank Monogram' printed as watermarks on the right side of the note. Besides, varnish coating has been added on both surfaces of the note.

Separate folders containing Bengali and English literature have been prepared for the Rs 50 face-value commemorative note. The price of commemorative note with only envelope without folder is fixed at Tk 50 and the price of commemorative note with folder and envelope is fixed at Tk 100.
