Toll gain from Padma Bridge crosses 100 crore in 42 days

Dhaka, 7 August 2022 : The dream Padma Bridge has opened a new horizon of communication for the people of South Bengal of the country.

Known as a symbol of economic capacity, the toll collection on this bridge is hundreds of crores of rupees. 9 lakh 3 thousand 840 vehicles have passed through the bridge in 42 days since the traffic started. 101 crore 9 lakh 14 thousand 400 taka has been collected in this. Before this, in the first 20 days, the toll was collected on this bridge half a hundred million taka.

According to Bangladesh Bridge Authority sources, 5 lakh 24 thousand 538 vehicles crossed the bridge through Mawa Toll Plaza from June 26 to August 6. 50 crore 72 lakh 93 thousand 850 taka has been collected in this. On the other hand, 3 lakh 79 thousand 302 vehicles passed through Jazeera Toll Plaza. 50 crore 36 lakh 20 thousand 550 thousand taka has been collected.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-awaited Padma Bridge on June 25. The next day, July 26, the bridge was opened for traffic from dawn.

However, motorcycle movement is closed to avoid chaos on the bridge. After the roadway of the bridge, the construction of the railway is currently underway.
