Traffic jam on 20 km road in Sirajganj for 10 hours, passenger suffering is extreme

Dhaka, July 8: The traffic jam caused on the highway from Nalka Bridge to Chandaikona west of Bangabandhu Setru in Sirajganj for about 20 kilometers did not end even late on Friday night. The traffic jam that started from 10:30 am on Friday did not normalize till 8 pm. Passengers suffered for 10 hours due to severe traffic jam along nearly 20 km of the highway.

Raju Ahmed, a bus passenger, said that although the bus left for Bogra from Sirajganj city at noon, it could not cross Chandaikona till afternoon. However, even though the traffic is moving slowly at night, the jam has not reduced.

Around 8 pm, Traffic Inspector (TI) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Monirul Islam said that there was a traffic jam in the 20 km area from Nalka Bridge to Chandaikona. We are working to resolve it.

Chandaikona market area businessman Nasir Uddin said that hundreds of vehicles including long-distance passenger buses are still stuck on the road in this traffic jam. The passengers traveling on the road have been completely crushed by this suffering that has been going on since morning. Many of them are getting sick on the way.

Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Kabir said that the traffic pressure on the highway is a little higher during the holidays. That is why the car is running without stopping until now. But we are trying to clear this traffic jam as soon as possible.

It is reported that the traffic jam started on Friday morning at 10:30 AM in Bangabandhu Bridge West Pachlia area when a truck and a microbus collided. Gradually this traffic jam spread from Nalka Bridge to Chandaikona. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Badrul Kabir said that an accident on the highway caused a traffic jam from the Nalka Bridge area. Due to the pressure of vehicles, the traffic jam has become severe. Police are working tirelessly to clear the traffic jam.

Rubel Sheikh of Bhuigaanti area of Hatikumrul-Bogra highway said that not a single vehicle is plying on the highway. The passengers got out of the car and are sitting on the road.

Traffic Inspector (TI) Monirul Islam said, "I have been working to resolve the traffic jam since morning. The traffic jam is not over yet. In this regard, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Abdul Quader Jilani said that the traffic jam has been created from Nalka Bridge to Chandaikona. That is why many long-distance transports from Kodda go through the city towards Chandaikona."
