Dhaka, June 2: A woman has opened up about the horrific experiences she faced after being trafficked to India on the pretext of making her a TikTok star.

A resident of Mogbazar, the victim managed to return back to Bangladesh after 77 days.

The young woman, who returned from India, said she had seen many more Bangladeshi girls while staying there, who have been trafficked through this cycle at different times.

She has filed a case under the Prevention of Human Trafficking Act at Hatirjheel police station on Tuesday (June 1) night.

Police said 12 people have been charged in the case. Five of them are currently staying in the country. Three people were arrested from the Dabakpara Kaliani area on the Satkhira border on Tuesday (June 1) night following allegations in the case.

The arrested are Mehedi Hasan Babu, Mohiuddin and Abdul Quader. They have directly helped nearly a thousand women cross the Indian border.

How the trafficking took place:

In 2019, the victim got acquainted with TikTok Hridoy at Madhubagh Bridge in Hatirjheel. He would often offer to make her a star on TikTok while at times Hridoy promised the woman to arrange a job with a hefty salary.

The girl was trafficked to India through the Satkhira border with the help of others in the group on February 19, 2021 at a Baul Lalon Shah Mazar in Kushtia.

After being trafficked to India, she was kept in a few houses in the Anandapur area of ​​Bangalore. At that time, she saw a few more Bangladeshi victims trafficked to India by this gang.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shahidullah said the victim was sent to a Oyo Hotel in Chennai for 10 days a few days after arriving in Bangalore. There she was subjected to inhuman physical and perverted sexual abuse.

The victim was taken hostage by as her captors threatened to send her family members or acquaintances lewd photos and videos of her that were either clicked or recorded by spiking her food and drinks.

According to the concerned people, the three who were trafficked to India were able to escape to the country with the help of the tortured girl in the viral video. One of them, who returned to the country after 77 days of being trafficked to India, filed the case with the Hatirjheel police station. Police are trying to contact the other two victims after knowing their names and addresses.
