Dhaka, September 5: India has already signed a transit agreement with Bangladesh. Under the agreement, India will be able to easily transport goods to any other country, including its northeastern states, through Bangladesh using Chittagong and Mongla ports.

Many call this system transshipment. The trial run has also started and is nearing completion. This way India will be able to transport goods in less time and cost. And Bangladesh will get tolls and other fees.

According to the terms of the agreement, the third trial run is currently taking place through Chittagong port. This time Bangladeshi flag ship MV Trans Samudera is coming to Chittagong port from Shyamaprasad Mukherjee port of Kolkata with one container of iron products (TMT bar). Related sources said that the ship left for Chittagong port at 6 am on Sunday (September 4).

It is known that the shipment of TMT bars is coming to Chittagong port under the 'Agreement on the Use of Chittagong and Mongla Port for Movement of Goods to and from India' agreement executed between Bangladesh and India in 2018, which is via Shayola (Sylhet) Sutarkandi (India) land port. To be taken in Assam, India. MV Trans Samudera is operated by the shipping line 'Mango Line Limited' in Bangladesh.

In 2020, four containers of goods arrived in transit from Kolkata Port to Chittagong Port. The service products arrive in Chittagong by MV Senjuti ship. After the opening of the Padma Bridge, another successful trial run was completed through the Mongla port in August under the transit agreement. There are plans to send containers of tea from Meghalaya to Calcutta port via Chittagong port via Dauki-Tamabil this week. This is the last run of Transit's trial run.

Mango Line Limited Manager Habibur Rahman said, under the transit agreement with India, container ship MV Trans Samudera with TMT bar is scheduled to arrive at Chittagong port on September 6. The vessel has already departed from Kolkata's Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Port. The vessel MV Trans Samudera is owned by MST Group and is a Bangladeshi flag carrier.

According to sources, MV Trans Samudera was built in 2018. The ship is 75 meters in length and 15 meters in width. The depth is 3.3 meters.
