Truck-CNG crash kills five in Mymensingh

Dhaka, November 10: A head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw killed at least five people and injured one other in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday morning, according to media reports.

The deceased were identified as Md Kalimuddin (70), Sohrab Uddin (50), Mina Begum (45), Abdus Sattar (40) and Salam Noor (35).

It was confirmed by Mayeen Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Trishal police station, to Dhaka Tribune.

According to the cop, a truck carrying sand collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on Trishal-Balipara road at 9:00 am.

Two people died on the spot, while four others sustained injuries.

Later, the injured were rushed to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, where three more victims died, he added.

Although police confiscated the truck, the driver managed to flee.

The OC said legal action has been inititiated.
