Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 8: Two members of the banned militant organization 'Ansar Al Islam' have been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Investigation Department of the police. They have been identified as Md. Nasir Hawladar and Syed Mohiuddin alias Salman.

This information was shared by Counter Terrorism in a press release on Monday (November 7). Earlier on Sunday night, they were arrested in a raid in Kadmatoli police station area of the capital.

It is known that the arrested are active members of the banned militant organization Ansar al-Islam. They get inspired into militancy by watching various extremist audios, videos and reading books online. They then became a member of Ansar al-Islam and began active participation in alleged jihadist activities.

During the interrogation, the arrested said that a top fugitive member of the militant organization works as a recruiter of the militant organization Ansar Al Islam in Madaripur, Faridpur, Shariatpur, and its surrounding areas. It was mainly through him that Nasir and Mohiuddin joined this organization. The members of this militant organization collect money for the organization by adopting different methods. They used to promote the organization by posting various radical posts, motivational videos, and anti-government posts on social media.

According to Counter-Terrorism, the youth are being encouraged to join the so-called Jihad to establish an Islamic Caliphate through anti-democratic processes and anti-constitutional campaigns. On the day of the incident, the arrested and absconding accused gathered to plan conspiracies and sabotage against the security of the country.
