Two Bangladeshis killed in BSF firing in Lalmonirhat

Dhaka, November 12: Two Bangladeshis were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Kaliganj border in Lalmonirhat. The incident took place at around 5:00 am on Friday (November 12) in the Burirhat border area of Goral Union in the upazila. The bodies of the two victims are lying inside India.

The deceased were identified as Md Bhasani, 40, son of Altaf Hossain of Malgara village in Lohakuchi area of ​​the upazila and Md Idris Ali, 42, son of Muslim Uddin of the same area.

Mahamudul Islam, chairman of the Goral Union Parishad (UP), said BSF members were shot dead on the spot when they crossed the Indian border to fetch cattle.

According to BGB and local sources, some herdsmen went to India through that border to fetch cows. Members of the 75th BSF Battalion Satbhandaria Camp in Kochbihar, India patrolling the area, opened fire on them as they were crossing the border in the early hours of the morning. Two people were shot dead on the spot.

No statement was received from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Lalmonirhat 15 Battalion in this regard.
