Two sisters commit suicide over family feud in Kushtia

Dhaka, October 24: Two sisters ended their life by hanging themselves at Daulatpur in Kushtia. Police recovered their bodies from Aria Kamarpara area of Aria Union in the upazila around 5pm on Friday (October 23). The deceased have been identified as Mukta, 15, daughter of Muazzem Sardar of Aria Kamarpara area and Ruma, 25, daughter of his brother Muntaz Ali Sardar.

According to the locals, Mukta was the co-accused in the rape case of her cousin (16).

Mukta and her cousin had a quarrel on Friday afternoon. Due to this, Mukta committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house at around 12 noon.

Meanwhile, Ruma, who got married in Mirpur, came to her father's house in Aria Kamarpara on Friday morning.

She also got involved in the fued as she sheltered Mukta in her house.

After hearing that Mukta had committed suicide by hanging herself, Ruma also committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her brother's room at around 1 pm. Upon receiving the news, Daulatpur police recovered their bodies from the spot.

Daulatpur Police OC (Investigation) Shahadat Hossain said the two cousins ​​had committed suicide by hanging themselves due to a feud.

Their bodies have been recovered for autopsy. A case is being prepared at the police station and it is being investigated whether there is any other incident behind their suicide.
