Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 3 November 2023: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has commented that the United Nations has no effectiveness in reality. He made this comment in reference to the statement given by the United Nations on the political violence of October 28.

Obaidul Quader said, "The United Nations is just a name. They have no real effect."

He said this to reporters in a briefing in the meeting room of the Road Transport and Highways Department at the Secretariat on Thursday, November 2.

He said, "They have been misled in the statement of the United Nations. We want to say that this is not the time for the United Nations to actually worry about Bangladesh."

Obaidul Quader said, "Sudan is being divided into two. What is happening in Palestine today? Does anyone listen to the United Nations? What is happening in Gaza today, does anyone listen to the United Nations? The United Nations is a sham. The United Nations does not have any effectiveness. An incident has happened here with the election of Bangladesh. Different kinds of information can go, it does not harm them (UN). They are not able to fulfill their real responsibility."

Asked whether the country is moving towards another election without BNP, the minister said, "I don't know. BNP has the right to hold elections. They won't do it if they don't hold elections. My point is that the constitution of Bangladesh is not changing. As the constitution says, our elections, our democracy is just like that. Who came or who didn't, that's doesn't matter."

If there is an election without BNP, there will be a question about whether it will be accepted at home and abroad - Awami League general secretary said to the question of journalists, "Give space, time, will come."

He said, "If BNP doesn't come, will we bring them by force? If BNP doesn't come, we won't hold elections by ignoring the constitution. Those who question it can say it."
