Dhaka, Jan 20: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for forming the government for the fourth time in a row.

In a letter written to Sheikh Hasina, the UN Secretary General said, "I congratulate you for being re-elected as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The UN deeply values the partnership with Bangladesh, including major contributions to peacekeeping operations, generosity to Rohingya refugees and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals."

"I am also grateful for your participation in the Global Crisis Response Group and believe that I can count on your support in our ambitions to address growing global challenges, including the fight against climate change and the pressing need to reform the international financial framework," he added in the letter.

"The United Nations is committed to working with your government in the interests of the people of Bangladesh," the letter read.
