Jhenaidah Uncle-nephew shot dead from roof of house
Dhaka, Jan 18: Rivals shot uncle-nephew due to previous enmity in Maheshpur of Jhenaidah. Nephew Shamim Hossain (32) and uncle Montu Mia (50) were killed on the spot.
Maheshpur police confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday at 4 pm. The deceased Shamim Hossain was the son of Shamsul Haque of Baghadanga village of Maheshpur upazila and Montu Mia was the son of Nayan Mandal of the same village.
Ahsan Habib of Baghadanga village said that Shamim-Montu used to trade in coriander leaves. That business transaction was with Tariqul Islam Akal and Ibra of the same area. They argued for several days about that transaction. Shamim-Montu were passing in front of Akal's house in the same village on Wednesday afternoon when Ibra and Akal fired at them from the roof of the house. Shamim was killed on the spot. Later, the local people and relatives took Montu, who was shot, to the nearby Jeevannagar Hospital. Montu died there.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshpur police station Md. Mahbubur Rahman confirmed this information and said that the police went to the spot after receiving the information. Details will be given later.
