Dhaka, September 15: Registration for the vaccination of all university students in the country will be completed by 26 September. University authorities will then be able to start teaching activities and open residential halls with the approval of their academic council.

On Tuesday (September 14), Education Minister Dipu Moni met with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Vice-Chancellors of the universities to discuss the opening of the university's residential hall and the commencement of classes. It is learned that such a decision has been taken from the meeting.

Confirming the decision, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khair told Jago News on Tuesday afternoon that all government and private university teachers and students in the country have to complete the registration process for vaccination by September 27. The university authorities will then be able to start teaching activities at the university with the approval of their academic council. The university can open their residential hall if they want. However, in those cases, a dose of vaccine has been given to the teachers and students of the universities and those who have access to the campus have to start the vaccination program by setting up health centers with the help of the Ministry of Health.

He said those university students who do not have National Identity Card (NID) should send their birth registration number to UGC. Those students will be able to register for the vaccine by adding the birth registration number to the security app.

Earlier on August 26, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education met in a meeting with the Technical Committee on Coronavirus Prevention to monitor the situation in Corona and reopen educational institutions.

It was then informed that the opening of the university will start from October 17. But before that, all the universities have to send information about vaccination to UGC. The universities that will be covered by the 100 percent vaccine will open first.

After the outbreak of coronavirus on March 17, 2020, all educational institutions in the country were closed. After a year and a half, the primary, secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions were opened from last Sunday. Medical colleges, dental and nursing related educational institutions opened on Monday.
