Shortly after the Friday prayers, a chase ensued between them at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram. The situation gradually became heated. Massive clashes also took place at the south gate.

Leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Juba League threw bricks and stones inside the mosque from outside. Police fired rubber bullets, sound grenades and tear gas shells.

Several people, including media personnel, were injured. Hefazat activists chanted slogans like 'Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar'. On the other hand, leaders and activists of Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League chanted 'Joy Bangla'.

It has been seen that Baitul Mukarram area has become a battlefield in the anti-Modi procession. Leaders and activists of Juba League and Chhatra League have taken a sticky position. Anti-Modi protesters are throwing brickbats at the police.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Dhaka to attend the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. Hefazat has been protesting against Narendra Modi's visit from the very beginning. The law enforcement agencies took massive security measures around Modi's arrival.

The Bangladesh Students and Youth Rights Council staged a protest procession in the capital's Motijheel on Thursday (March 25th) in protest of Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh. This led to their chase and clash with the police. Police arrested Maulana Rafiqul Islam Madani, a 'child speaker' from the rally. He was later released.
