US embassy mourns Hadisur's death

Dhaka, March 4: The US Embassy in Dhaka has expressed deep condolences over the death of sailor Hadisur Rahman in a rocket attack on the Bangladeshi ship MV Bangla Samriddhi at the Alvia seaport in Ukraine. Earlier, a similar condolence message was issued by the Russian embassy.

A statement from the US Embassy in Kabul on Friday (March 3rd) said: The United States extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved people of Bangladesh, who are mourning the death of Hadisur Rahman in such a tragic war. The next day, when the Russian attack started, the ship got stuck in the port.

The attack on the prosperity of Bengal took place around 9:30 pm on Wednesday (March 2) Bangladesh time. The ship caught fire. However, the fire was brought under control immediately due to the efforts of the sailors. Hadisur Rahman, the ship's third engineer, died in the incident. After his death, his mutilated body was stored in the ship's fridge.

Hadisur's home is in Kadamtala Bazar area of ​​Hosnabad union in Betagi upazila of Barguna. He said the chairman of the area, a resident of the house. The eldest son of Abdur Razzak (retired teacher) and Amena Begum.

Meanwhile, 27 sailors who were unharmed after the attack on the ship pleaded for their safety. They were later evacuated from the ship at 8pm Bangladesh time on Thursday (March 3).

Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen told reporters at the Foreign Ministry on Friday (March 4th) that 27 sailors aboard the "Samriddhi" ship bound for the Ukrainian port of Alvia were being taken to Romania via Moldova. They also have the body of slain third engineer Hadisur Rahman.

On the other hand, the Russian embassy in Dhaka has expressed its condolences over the death of a sailor in an attack on a Bangladeshi ship. Despite reports in the Ukrainian media that Russian forces had launched a missile attack on the Bangladeshi ship 'Samriddhi' during the war, Russia has said without acknowledging or denying the matter, the matter is being investigated.
