Dhaka, August 27: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the US has banned RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) officers without specific information. The Home Minister said this in response to a question from journalists at the end of the 'Fifth South Asia Conference' organized by the Inner Wheel Club at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Saturday (August 27).

Since the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights did not find evidence of human rights violations in Bangladesh, did the United States ban the law enforcement officers of Bangladesh prove baseless? In response to such a question, he said, "I only made the statement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Many people talk a lot. I always say that if you say something without facts and evidence, no one believes it."

The interior minister said, "United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, the former president of Chile, came to Bangladesh. She had a long discussion with us."

"She had given us some questions in advance. We showed her the video presentation and explained to him the details of what had happened. She did not ask us any questions after seeing this.

"She analyzed everything and gave his opinion. She showed her wisdom. She said that Bangladesh is not violating human rights but the Prime Minister is managing the country very carefully. She (UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet) repeatedly said that," the Home Minister said.

According to the recent report of former Chilean President and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, who recently visited Bangladesh, the UN has not expressed any concerns about Bangladesh in terms of human rights or other issues.

In response to the question of the journalists whether the BNP has been complaining repeatedly whether their claims have been proven false, the minister said, "We have always been saying that they (BNP) are making various rumors to create a situation. They have no basis and could not prove the truth. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has not expressed any concern about human rights in our country due to lack of basis."
