Dhaka, May 18: The US ambassador to Bangladesh, Robert Earl Miller, said the US government was exploring the possibility of Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies producing coronavirus vaccines.

He made the remarks while visiting the ministry on Monday (May 17) at the invitation of State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam. They also discussed mutual cooperation between the two countries to deal with coronavirus and the provision of vaccines to Bangladesh in case of emergency. The foreign ministry said in a statement.

Mentioning that the United States is working on the supply of corona vaccine in Bangladesh, Robert Miller said that the United States has recommended the supply of vaccine in South Asia.

The US Ambassador was informed on the occasion that the information about Bangladesh in the Global Religious Freedom Report published by the US State Department was incorrect. The government thinks the report does not reflect the situation here.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Minister of State for External Affairs said the government was doing its utmost to maintain religious harmony and non-discrimination. The incidents described in the report are isolated incidents. It is mentioned in the notification that action has been taken against the persons involved in this.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam also called on the United States to play an effective role in ending the bloody conflict in Palestine. He also reiterated Bangladesh's support for resolving the two-state solution.

He also called for timely interviews for their visas, noting that a large number of students are having trouble getting visas to study in the United States. However, Robert Miller assured that a lot of work has been done due to the lockdown to prevent coronavirus.
