US Official to visit Bangladesh for five days

Dhaka, 4 December 2022 : Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Immigration Julieta Valls Noyes of the US Department of State is coming to Bangladesh on a five-day official visit.

During his visit, he will visit Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar and Bhasanchar. This information was informed in a press release of the US State Department on Friday.

It is said that Noyes will visit Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar and Bhasanchar during his visit to Bangladesh. In addition, he will meet the relevant government officials of Bangladesh for showing generosity by sheltering the Rohingya refugees.

The press release also said that he will also meet with officials of private and international partner organizations to highlight the commitment of the United States to support the Rohingya refugees and the local people of the populated country. At the end of the visit, the US Assistant Secretary of State will leave Bangladesh for Thailand on December 7.

Julieta Valls Noyes assumed the role of Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Immigration at the US State Department on March 31, 2022.

Prior to this, he served as the Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Foreign Service Institute from 2018 to 2021.
