Elections | US Delegation US pre-election evaluation delegation is coming to Dhaka
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 28 September 2023: A delegation of two US-funded organizations is coming to Bangladesh on October 8 to assess the preparations for the 12th National Assembly elections. These two institutions are the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI). They will be in Dhaka from October 8-12.
Six international experts, including former US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Carl F. Inderfurth, will be part of the delegation. Also present will be USAID's former Deputy (Administrator) Bonnie Glick, former Malaysian House of Representatives member Maria Chin Abdullah, former Associate Counsel to the US President Jamil Zafar, NDI's Asia-Pacific Regional Director Manpreet Singh Anand and IRI's Asia-Pacific The division's senior director is Johanna Cao.
During their stay in Dhaka, the joint delegation will hold meetings with the Election Commission, government officials, political party leaders and various civil society organizations.
