US sanctions on RAB: Bangladesh govt writing to the international community

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 31: Bangladesh government is sending letters to various international organizations in the wake of the US sanctions on the RAB and the activities of lobbyist groups, said Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen.

"In the letter, we have highlighted the situation in the country," he said while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the 16th Bangabandhu National Wushu Championship at Mirpur Indoor Stadium on Sunday (January 30).

The foreign minister said, "The government is sending letters to the international community in response to the US sanctions on the RAB and the activities of lobbyist groups. We are also sending letters to different missions. We've made a briefing, we're sending it."

He said, "Some people have got strength following the US sanctions. Few are also writing about it. But we want to highlight our position."

In response to a question, the foreign minister said meetings are held regularly with the law minister and the home minister regarding the US sanctions. We talk about it often.

When he was asked if any action would be taken against the BNP for lobbying against the country, he said, "You decide what action should be taken."
