USA-Bangladesh US talking about justice after sheltering murderers: Prime Minister Hasina
Dhaka, December 29: Criticising the USA, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the country talks about corruption in Bangladesh where in relaity it has sheltered several of Bangabandhu's assassins.
"Countries like America always talk about justice and democracy, they talk about voting rights, they talk about human rights. But they have sheltered the murderers who violated our human rights, who were sentenced to death- the justice that we did not get," she said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of Mujib Memorial Book in Bengali and English titled 'Bangabandhu and the Judiciary' and 'Bangabandhu and Judiciary' published by the Bangladesh Supreme Court on Tuesday (December 26). She participated in the main event of the Bangladesh Supreme Court premises from Ganobhaban through virtual video conferencing.
The prime minister said in a statement that he had asked the heads of state who have come to power in the United States since he came to power to return the killers. "I have repeatedly said how you give shelter to a convicted criminal. How can your judiciary harbor a murderer?"
The Prime Minister said that the killer Rashed had taken refuge in the United States and Major Noor in Canada. "I do not want to say too much about what I have done for the rights of the judiciary, for the development of the judiciary or for the people of the country," she said. "But I will say that since my father wanted an independent judiciary, we have come to the government and ensured that independent judiciary."
The Prime Minister said that only after the formation of the first government in 1996, he was able to transfer the state power from the army barracks to the people. She also mentioned that she has done a lot for the development of the judiciary and the people of the country for the rights of the judiciary.
Hasina also expressed doubts about whether the murder of the father of the nation would have been tried in this country if her government had not come to power or if she had not survived. If Awami League did not come to power, that indemnity or that culture of injustice would have remained in the country.
Regarding the fugitives of the murderers of the father of the nation in different countries, she said, "Some murderers are still at large and they are also being sought."
