US under secretary arrives in Dhaka

Dhaka, March 20, 2022: US State Department Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland arrived in Dhaka this afternoon to join the 8th Partnership Dialogue to further strengthen ties on the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States.

Nuland first came to Dhaka as part of a trilateral tour of South Asia, including India and Sri Lanka. Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:10 pm. An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this.

This round of partnership dialogue is gaining momentum as the United States imposes sanctions on the Rapid Action Battalion and several of its senior officers on December 10, 2021. In connection with the partnership dialogue meeting, a Foreign Ministry official told state news agency BSS that Dhaka would highlight the blockade in the dialogue and highlight the success of the elite law enforcement unit in combating terrorism and drug trafficking.

The Seventh Bangladesh-US Partnership Dialogue was held in 2019, when the United States pledged additional security assistance to Bangladesh to enhance maritime domain awareness, piracy and regional security coordination in the Bay of Bengal.
