Dhaka, November 5: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the prices of all products have increased in the context of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. "This shock is also coming to our country. All countries are struggling today due to inflation, everyone has to use their reserves. We also have to use our reserves and it is for the people of the country."

Besides increasing food production, she called on the youth of the country to organize activities by uniting the people and forming cooperatives to move the country forward.

The head of government said, "Our youth society has to come forward. If the youth society can come forward and carry out activities through cooperatives of the entire village and people, then we can go a long way. Because, everyone will have a responsibility."

The Prime Minister said these things while addressing as the chief guest at the 51st National Cooperative Day program on Saturday (November 5) morning. She joined the program organized at the capital's Bangabandhu International Conference Center from Ganobhaban virtually.

Pointing out that the government has to buy fertilizers, fuel oil and edible oil at high prices, the Prime Minister reiterated the call to everyone to be thrifty and save. She advised the youth not to run after jobs but to engage in food production such as poultry farming, fish farming and other activities by forming cooperatives.

Referring to the 100 special economic zones established by the government, Sheikh Hasina said, "You (youth society) can set up food processing factories there. It will not only meet the local demand, but it will also be possible to export abroad. Through cooperatives, the country can achieve the desired economic success."

The Prime Minister urged everyone to work together to overcome the crisis created in Bangladesh due to the impact of sanctions and counter-sanctions of various countries along with the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Dr. Tarun Kanti Sikder, Registrar and Director General of Directorate of Cooperatives, presided over the event under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Rural Development and Cooperatives, Swapan Bhattacharya.
