Uttara garage blast: 7 out of 8 burnt dead, remaining person critical

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 10: Seven of the eight people who were burnt in an explosion at a rickshaw garage in the capital's Uttara have died. The remaining one who is still alive is also in critical condition.

According to the latest development, Md. Shariful Islam (32) died on Tuesday (August 9) around 8:30 pm. He was undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. About 80 percent of his body was burnt, said Dr. Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Earlier on Saturday (August 6), an explosion occurred in the garage in Uttara's Kamarpara area. Eight people were burnt.

Mohammad Nurul Islam, who brought the injured to the hospital, said that there was a repair shop next to the rickshaw garage. In that shop, there was a sudden blast while opening other bottles including a bottle of scent. Eight people were burnt in the rickshaw garage. Seven of them have died.
