Vaccination against coronavirus will continue in Ramadan

Dhaka, March 31: Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that coronavirus vaccination activities will continue in the country during the coming holy month of Ramadan. "Vaccination will continue throughout the country during the month of Ramadan," he said. "Vaccination can be taken as usual from the centers where vaccinations are being given."

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized on the occasion of 'Health Minister's National Award 2020' at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (March 31). Noting that the mass vaccination campaign will continue for another three days, Zahid Maleque said, "We have set a target of vaccinating 80 per cent of the people. To achieve this goal, mass vaccination activities will continue for three more days."

The health minister said, "We have achieved success in vaccination. 12 crore 71 lakh 64 thousand 323 people have come under the first dose of vaccine since the beginning of vaccination program to prevent corona infection in the country. 10 crore 31 lakh 30 thousand 47 people have received two doses of vaccine. Besides, 81 lakh 64 thousand 211 people have received booster (third) dose of vaccine at this time.

Director General of Health Department ABM Khurshid Alam presided over the function while senior secretary Lokman Hossain Mia, secretary of health education department Saiful Islam Badal and line director Mizanur Rahman were also present.
