Vaccines worth Tk 20,000 crore received for free

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 5: Bangladesh is one of the few countries in the world to have received free corona vaccines from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO noticed that Bangladesh has used vaccines properly. No vaccine is wasted and there is also the ability to vaccinate. For this reason, WHO has provided the highest number of vaccines to Bangladesh. Its market value is more than Tk 20,000 crore. Bangladesh got this vaccine for free.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque made the remarks at an exchange meeting with Manikganj district residents on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at Shubhro Center in Garpara area of Manikganj on Wednesday noon.

The Health Minister said, "We have been able to keep the Covid-19 situation under control. Having received the vaccine, we have been able to celebrate Eid with ease in the country today. We have been able to vaccinate about 98 percent of the people in the country against coronavirus, which is about 75 percent of the total population. Corona infection has not been reduced by any magic spell, we have been able to control corona today under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

Zahid Maleque said the country's economy is running, GDP is 6 percent. In countries where Corona is out of control, the economies of those countries are in recession. Bangladesh is one of the strongest economies in the world.

District Council Administrator and District Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin, General Secretary Abdus Salam, Municipal Mayor Md. Ramzan Ali, leaders of various organizations including Awami League, district and upazila level dignitaries were present at the time.
