Victory Day celebrations cannot be held without informing administration

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 2: The local administration should be informed in advance in the case of organizing nationwide cultural programmes on the occasion of Great Victory Day on December 16.

This decision was taken in a meeting regarding the implementation of the national programme taken by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to celebrate the Great Victory Day-2022 at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 1) and to take overall security measures including law and order control. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal presided over it. This information was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Highlighting other decisions taken in the meeting, the press release said that necessary measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the President, Prime Minister and other important persons including members of the Cabinet while traveling to Savar National Memorial by road. Arrangements will be made so that the martyred freedom fighters can safely return to the National Memorial after laying wreaths.

Diplomats will have adequate security on their way to and from the National Memorial. It was decided in the meeting that adequate number of CCTV cameras will be installed to ensure flawless security at all places. Besides, it has been decided to limit the construction of pylons on the road from Dhaka to Savar Memorial and not to construct overhead pylons. Roads will be cleaned and decorated. Law and order forces will take necessary measures for law and order and security at metropolitan area, district headquarters upazila level to celebrate Victory Day with due dignity.

Apart from this, high-quality food will be provided in jails, hospitals, orphanages and old age homes on the day of Great Victory Day. Ambulances, rescue equipment and fire fighting vehicles of Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate will be present at necessary places including Savar National Memorial and Parade of Combined Forces.

Special security measures will be taken to celebrate Victory Day in Dhaka and other parts of the country. Intelligence activities will be strengthened across the country. It is requested to follow hygiene rules at the venue of Victory Day to prevent covid-19. Must wear a mask to the event. It was decided in the meeting that first aid should be provided at Savar National Memorial and other events if necessary.
