Dhaka, December 16: President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid their respects at the National Memorial on Victory Day with a limited number of people due to the coronavirus pandemic. No one was present at the National Memorial in Savar except the designated person during the wreath-laying ceremony of the President-Prime Minister.

On the occasion of ‘Great Victory Day-2021’, the President-Prime Minister laid a wreath at the National Memorial on Thursday (December 16) at sunrise.

Among them were only the Minister for Liberation War Affairs, State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and Housing and Public Works, GOC of 9th Infantry Division, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner and Dhaka Deputy Commissioner.

After laying wreaths at the altar of the memorial, the Prime Minister and the President stood in silence for some time paying homage to the memory of the martyrs. At this time a vigilante group of three forces saluted the state and a sad tune was played on the bugle.

Later, the Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina along with the senior leaders of the party laid a wreath at the altar of the memorial. Sheikh Rehana, the youngest daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was with the Prime Minister at the time.
