Dhaka, July 15: As monsoon activity increases, thunderclouds likely to form and gusty winds may blow over the country's seaports. Therefore, the Meteorological Department has asked the country's sea ports to display warning signal number 3. At the same time, it also said that the temperature may decrease due to increase in rain across the country.

On Thursday, Rangpur, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions were more prone to rain. From 6 am on Thursday to 6 am on Friday, the highest rainfall of 144 mm was recorded in Panchagarh's Tentulia in the last 24 hours. Hatia, Teknaf, Bandarban, Sylhet, Syedpur received more than 50 mm of rain. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that 1 mm of rain has fallen in Dhaka.

In a marine weather warning on Friday morning, the Meteorological Department said deep convective clouds are forming over North Bay of Bengal under the influence of active monsoon. Due to its influence, gale force winds may blow over North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas and seaports of Bangladesh.

It also said that Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show local warning signal number 3. All fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further notice.

Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick said, the axis of monsoon is extending through Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An extension of it extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay of Bengal.

Highlighting the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 am on Friday, he said that there may be light to moderate rain or thunder with temporary gusty winds in most places of Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and many places of Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions. Along with this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country. The meteorologist also said that day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country.
