We want a peaceful solution to any problem through discussion: Dr. Momen

He said this at the Bangladesh-Russia joint briefing at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Thursday. The minister said this in response to a Russian journalist's question about Bangladesh being a victim of US sanctions.

He said, "We have a foreign policy, friendship with all. We maintain it strictly. We make independent decisions. Our main goal is to discuss anything. We are a dialogue partner of ASEAN. Our calculation is very simple. We want a peaceful solution to any problem through discussion."

The foreign minister said, "Today we discussed many issues. Today our topic of discussion was Rooppur Power Plant. You will be glad to know that it will be over in time. Our issue was Rohingya, they (Russia) agreed with us that Rohingya should go back to their country. We have sought their assistance in this regard."

AK Abdul Momen said, "We have asked to increase the trade and commerce of the two countries (Bangladesh and Russia), there are many scopes in our country. They said, we can bring LMG from their country. We have also discussed duty free products. Also talked about the war in Ukraine. We said we don't want war, we want dialogue. We have told them our position in that regard."

"For the first time, the Foreign Minister of Russia has visited our country. We have many years of relationship with Russia. They helped us in our liberation war. They helped us a lot in building the country after the liberation war. We have a deep relationship with them," Momen added.
