Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 13: The government is thinking of extending the weekend of educational institutions in order to save money. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said this at a discussion meeting organized by the Bangladesh Polytechnic Teachers Association on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Friday (August 12).

Referring to the ongoing economic crisis of the country, the Education Minister said, "I am considering whether the weekend can be made for two days or not. From next year, the weekly holiday in educational institutions will be two days. We are considering whether to implement it this year or not. I cannot say any decision at the moment. But we are thinking about it. The decision will be announced soon."

Dipu Moni said, "The results of the research show that there is no shortage of our students due to Corona. Rather, it has become the snake's boon. Their (students) self-learning skills are developed. In Corona, they learned to learn by themselves."

She also said, "Everyone claims there are dropouts. We have noticed there is no dropout."

Regarding the admission of more than the maximum student-intake capacity in educational institutions, the minister said, "There is a tendency to admit additional students in educational institutions without considering their intake capacity. They must be stopped."

In response to a question from reporters, Dipu Moni said, there is no possibility of postponing the SSC exam, unless an unavoidable cause occurs.
