Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 28 July 2023: The number of boys is less than girls in SSC and equivalent exams this year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the ministry to find about the reasons for the decrease in the number of boys.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni handed over the copy of SSC and equivalent results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a ceremony at Ganabhaban this Friday morning. At that time, the Prime Minister gave such instructions.

The Prime Minister said, "In 2023, there were 20 lakh 78 thousand 216 candidates under 11 education boards in SSC and equivalent examinations. Among them, the number of male students is 10 lakh 24 thousand 980, which is 49.32 percent. The number of female students is 10 lakh 53 thousand 246. John, which is 50.68 percent. Why is the number of boys decreasing, one needs to think. Are they not going to school?"

"Why did the number of examinees decrease? I think the Ministry of Education needs to take a good look at it."

He said, "We are giving free textbooks. Textbooks have been handed out at the right time even during Corona. Due to Covid-19 and Ukraine-Russia war, inflation and price of everything has gone up all over the world. It is not only in our country but also in Europe-America. Distributed free educational materials books. We did not skimp here. We were able to provide what was required."

Expressing sincere thanks to those concerned for publishing the exam results digitally, the Prime Minister said that now the students do not have to go to school to get the information, they are getting the results at home.

Congratulating those who passed the exam, he said, "I tell those who failed, there is nothing to be disappointed. Despair hurts people more. You have to prepare in such a way that you can pass well in the future. I tell parents, pay special attention to boys and girls. Pay special attention to their education. Because education is the one wealth that no one can ever take away. It is always needed in life."

The Prime Minister also commented that the Awami League government has enrolled a total of 5,097 educational institutions in the MPO in three terms. She said, "Skilled population is needed for everything. So we are digitizing everything. Without skilled population in this way, who will run the country?"
