Dhaka, March 31: A woman drug dealer named Parveen Begum (42) has been sentenced to death for smuggling 500 grams of heroin in Gobindaganj of Gaibandha. At the same time he was fined one lakh taka. However, four people have been acquitted from the case. Senior District and Sessions Judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik handed down the verdict at noon on Thursday (March 31). The convicted accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced.

The house of Parveen Begum Shaila, who was sentenced to death, is in the rainy area of ​​Gobindaganj municipality of Gaibandha. The acquitted persons are Bipul Mia, Ramzan Ali, Saju Mia and Sohag Hasan. All of them live in different areas of Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district.

According to the statement of case, on December 8, 2018, the police conducted a search in Katabari area of ​​Gobindaganj on a passenger bus of Payna Paribahan bound for Bogra from Dinajpur. Police seized 500 grams of heroin from Parveen Begum's handbag in the bus at that time. The police filed a case against Parveen under the Narcotics Control Act in the name of five people.

Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, state counsel Farooq Ahmed Prince said that after a long hearing and taking evidence from witnesses, it was proved that Parveen was involved in drug trafficking. This is the first execution of a female drug dealer in the district.
