Dhaka, September 7: Expressing dissatisfaction with the World Bank, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said they were delaying with promises on important issues like road safety. He said the organisation's words do not match the work.

"If the World Bank delays unnecessarily, we will implement the road safety program with our own funds," Quader made the remarks at a briefing at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) head office on Tuesday (September 7).

Obaidul Quader said, "If we can build the Padma bridge with our own funds, we will be able to do the road safety project ourselves."

Earlier, the minister exchanged views with BRTA officials. During the meeting, he said that although the flight was closed during the Corona period, now that the flight has been launched in different countries, the country's manpower has started to be exported.

"The delay in issuing the driving license has taken the shine away from all our achievements, so there can be no further delay," he said. The Minister also directed the concerned officials to prepare licenses in Bengali language. BRTA chairman Nur Mohammad Majumder was present among others.

At the briefing, the general secretary of the Awami League said, "People no longer believe that the BNP will establish democracy in the country by leading the party in an undemocratic way."

Mentioning that Awami League has always been talking about BNP's anti-politics, Obaidul Quader said, now pro-BNP intellectuals have started talking about their irregularities.

Mentioning that BNP is spreading hatred against the government day and night, Obaidul Quader said, Sheikh Hasina government is tolerating it with generosity. At that time, the general secretary of Awami League also commented that BNP has enviable and intolerant politics.

Emphasizing on compliance with hygiene rules in vehicles, the minister said BRTA should conduct mobile courts across the country in this regard.
