Dhaka, June 4: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Padma Bridge on June 25 at 10 am. The World Bank will also be invited to the event. Besides, all the opponents of the country, including the right and left will get the invitation, because it is a national event. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said.

Asked whether BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would get the invitation, Obaidul Quader said, "If it falls within the rules, we will definitely invite. Now she is punished. She is supposed get the invitation as the BNP chairperson. We will do it after consulting the rules. All the opponents will be invited to the inauguration of the Padma Bridge. BNP leaders will also be invited."

He said this while distributing post-training certificates for women drivers at BRAC Center in Mohakhali on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Obaidul Quader said, "BNP is a big party. We want them to come to the polls. If you want a change of power, you have to take part in the election. If you think that you will be on the path of assassination without taking part in the elections now, if you think that you will sit on the throne of power by threatening to assassinate Sheikh Hasina, then this colorful dream will turn into a nightmare."

Addressing the BNP, he said the BNP speaks the language of the streets in the name of the movement. They are threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. "They are once again saying let the roar of tools used in 1975 rise. They want to repeat 15th August again. I said Mr. Fakhrul you are the secretary general of the party. Handle these young Turks on your team. If such a slogan is given, the consequences of murder and politics will be terrible. I have told Mr. Fakhrul that you will see the consequences if it continues like this. You will see in reality who will have the worst outcome."

A lawsuit was filed in a Canadian court alleging corruption in the construction of the Padma Bridge. Officials at the Canadian company SNC-Lavalin were accused of trying to get work on the Padma Bridge through corruption. The World Bank stopped their loans for the Padma Bridge construction project after allegations of corruption. Later, if the allegations of corruption are proved false, the World Bank wants to return to the project. But Bangladesh did not agree to it, decided to implement the bridge with its own funds.
