World Health Organization will vaccinate another 40 percent of people in Bangladesh

Dhaka, October 3, 2021: The World Health Organization (WHO) will send corona vaccine to 20 percent of the people of Bangladesh by December this year.

The agency has since agreed to send vaccines to another 40 percent of people. The vaccine will be sent under Covax. Health Minister Zahid Malek met with World Health Organization Director-General Tredos Adhanam Gabrieus in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday (October 1st). This was stated in a statement at the end of the meeting.

It was said that in the first phase of the meeting, the Director General of the World Health Organization had promised to send vaccines to 20 percent of the people of Bangladesh by December. According to the population of the country, when we (Bangladesh) requested to send vaccines for 40 percent of the people, the Director General of the World Health Organization agreed to send vaccines for 40 percent of the people in phases.

The health minister said it would be possible for 20 percent of the country's population to get vaccinated by December. More vaccines will be available for 40 percent of the country's population in a very short time. In addition to this, our work of purchasing vaccines from other means will also continue.

The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) praised the Bangladesh government for highlighting the initiatives taken by Bangladesh in the last one and a half years.

He assured the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) that he would take the matter seriously if requested to send more Pfizer and Modern vaccines.
