Dhaka, May 30: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen called upon the officials concerned to provide the best service to the expatriates and to work sincerely to protect their interests. The foreign minister made this call in his speech as the chief guest at the 'Diplomatic Orientation' course awarding ceremony for the newly appointed officers in the labor wing of the Bangladesh Mission abroad at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday.

The foreign minister said, "Many challenges have been created in front of Bangladesh in the process of becoming a middle-income country. Everyone should work together to establish Bangladesh as a developed and prosperous country by facing all kinds of challenges."

Dr. Momen said, "About 12 million Bangladeshis are working abroad and they are enriching our economy by providing huge remittances. Therefore we need to satisfy the expatriate Bangladeshis by providing the best service with honesty and dedication."

Mentioning that teamwork is very important for the success of Bangladesh missions abroad, the foreign minister told the officials, "All of the mission should work as a team to present a bright image of Bangladesh to foreigners. Provide service to every Bangladeshi with compassion and care so that someone with your integrity Can't raise any questions."

He expressed hope that the instructions and knowledge acquired in the training course by the officers assigned to the Labor Wing would help protect the interests of the Bangladeshi diaspora. At the same time he congratulated the officers for successfully completing the orientation course.

Acting Foreign Secretary Rear Admiral (retd) Md Khurshed Alam was the special guest at the event under the chairmanship of Foreign Service Academy Rector Ambassador Mashfi Binte Shams.

A training course titled 'Diplomatic Orientation' was held from May 14 to May 25 at the capital's Foreign Service Academy for newly appointed officers in the labor wing of Bangladesh missions abroad. 11 officers participated in this training course. Five of them will join Bangladesh missions in the Middle East (Dubai, Doha, Baghdad, Beirut), three in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Brunei) and East Asia (Seoul), Africa (Port Louis) and Eastern Europe (Bucharest).
