Dhaka, February 22: Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has been invited to be the official jury of the 15th Bangalore International Film Festival organized by the Karnataka Film Academy. Badhon is going to be the chief judge there.

The 15th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFF) will begin on February 29 and will continue till March 7. Badhon will be the chief judge of the "Asian Cinema Competition" section. To participate there, Badhon will fly from Dhaka to Bangalore, India, on February 28. She will return from the festival on March 8.

The news was officially announced by the festival authorities. Besides, the actress herself has also confirmed this.

Badhon told the media, "I am very happy. So long I used to think, I have traveled to festivals with 'Rehana' (Rehana Maryam Noor), now what will I take. Because there is not so much joy in just traveling. I can go as an actress. But it's a lot of fun to go to work on your own. And I want to have that joy."

Regarding becoming a judge, Badhon said, "I will go through a new experience. I will meet a lot of new people, learn about films from different countries. It's a great pleasure."

Nina Kochelayeva (Russia), Rosanna Alonso (Spain), Carrie Sawhney (UK) and Sitaram (India) will be the other judges in the Asian Cinema Competition section. A total of 12 films from 9 countries were selected in this category. Bandhan and other judges will select the best from them.

Organised by the Film Academy of the Government of Karnataka, India, the festival also has two competition sections. They are Indian cinema and Kannada cinema. There will also be International FIPRESCI Jury and NETPAC Jury Awards. More than 200 films from different countries of the world are participating in the festival in 15 categories.

Earlier, Badhon served as a judge in the "I Am Tomorrow International Film Festival" held in Brussels last year.
