Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina presents National Film Award

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday conferred the highest recognition in the country's film industry, the 'National Film Award-2019'.

The Prime Minister participated in the main event organized by the Ministry of Information at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital via video conference from Ganobhaban.

A total of 33 artists and artisans were awarded in 2019 in 26 categories. Information Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister. Hassan Mahmood distributed medals, replicas, honor checks and certificates among the award winners. Best Actor Tariq Anam Khan (Spring Again) and Prasunerah Bint Kamal (No Dry) won the award for Best Actress. In addition, Zahid Hasan (Sapludu) and Tanim Rahman Anshu (No Dry) won the award for Best Khal and Best Director respectively and ‘No Dry’ and ‘Fagun Hawai’ were jointly nominated for Best Film. Masood Parvez Sohail Rana and Kohinoor Akhter Suchanda received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Information Minister. Hasan Mahmud presided over the function. Information Secretary Khwaja Mia delivered the welcome address. Lifetime Achievement Award winner Masood Parvez Sohail Rana spoke on behalf of the award winners.

Also, the other recipients of the award are: Best Lyricist (Joint): Nirmalendu Guna (I was born on the station) (Black Cloud Vela) and Dr. Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury (Poet Kamal Chowdhury) (Come O Friend Come) (Maya The Lost Mother). Best Composer (Joint): Plavan Qureshi (Abdul Qadir) (on the east side of the house) and Syed Mohammad. Tanvir Tareq (My Mother's Area) (Maya The Lost Mother). Best Storyteller: Masood Pathik (Masood Rana) (Maya The Lost Mother), Best Screenwriter: Mahbub Ur Rahman (No Dry), Best Dialogue Writer: Zakir Hossain Raju (I Can't Find The Man I Like) and Best Editor: Junaid Ahmad Halim (Maya) The Lost Mother).

Mohammad Rahmat Ullah Basu and Md. Received the award for the best art director (joint). Farid Ahmed (I Didn't Find The Man I Wanted), Best Photographer: Sumon Kumar Sarkar (No Dry), Best Photographer: Ripon Nath (No Dry), Best Dress & Decoration: Khandaker Sajia Afrin (Fagun Hawaii) and Best Makeup Man: Md. Raju (Maya the Lost Mother).
