Dhaka, March 26: At midnight on March 25, 1971, Pakistani troops carried out a massacre of sleeping unarmed Bengalis in the name of 'Operation Search Light'. That night is known in history as tomorrow night.

On this day, 1000 candles were lit in FDC in memory of the martyrs. The candle lighting ceremony was organized by the Joint Film Council comprising 19 film organizations on March 25 at 11 pm. Ilias Kanchan, President of Shilpi Samiti, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, President of Shilpi Samiti and Apurba Rana, Deputy Secretary General were present there. Also present were Nipun, Simon, Emon, Shahnoor, Jasmine and other leaders and workers of Shilpi Samiti.

Everyone lit a candle in front of the board of directors and illuminated the map of Bangladesh. During this time, candles were lit around the FDC including the Board of Directors and the Artists' Association. Afterwards, at around 12 midnight, on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, the film workers paid their respects to the martyrs by placing flowers on the martyr's pillar of FDC.

At that time, the president of the artists, Ilyas Kanchan, said, 'The torture inflicted on the innocent sleeping people of Bangladesh on March 25, 1971 is rare in the world. Today we respectfully remember those who were martyred that day. In exchange for their fresh blood we have got an independent country today, I have become Elias Kanchan.

At the same time, I am remembering Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today We got this country through the declaration of independence which inspired 9 months of war. Let us maintain the standard of freedom Today, I wish this country, the people of this country, our films to be good. Let the world be calm Let all wars end. Happy Independence Day to all. '

Nipun said, "Happy Independence Day to all. We want a country of beautiful peace. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of that country. We are walking on the path of that dream holding the hand of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."
