Drug Case Drug case against Pori Moni will continue
Dhaka, February 24: The High Court has disposed of the ruling questioning the proceedings of the drug case filed against Samsun Nahar Smriti, popularly known as actress Pori Moni.
The High Court Division Bench consisting of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md. Aminul Islam has cleared the way for the continuation of the proceedings of the concerned judicial court.
Senior lawyers ZI Khan Panna and Shah Manjurul Haque represented the actress in the High Court, Assistant Attorney General Md Salim Azad represented the state.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 on January 5, 2022 framed charges against Pori Moni, Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Howlader. Later, the actress appealed to the High Court to quash the order of framing the complaint in the case.
On March 1, 2023, the High Court issued a ruling.
On November 15, 2021, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court accepted the charge sheet of the case and transferred it to the 10th Special Judge Court of Dhaka for further proceedings.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police filed the chargesheet in the court on October 4, 2021.
On 31 August 2021, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge, KM Imrul Kayesh, granted bail to Parimony and he was released from jail the next day.
On August 4, 2021, RAB arrested Parimoney from Banani's house and seized a large amount of foreign liquor and other drugs.
