Drug case: Chargesheet granted against Pori Moni, two others
Dhaka, November 17: A Dhaka court has accepted chargesheets against three people, including popular Dhaka film actress Pori Moni, in a case under the Narcotics Control Act. At the same time, the case has been transferred to Special Judge Court 10. The court has fixed December 14 for the formation of the next charge.
On Monday (November 15), Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh accepted the chargesheet. The other two accused in the case are Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
Earlier on Tuesday (October 26), acting judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Rabiul Alam set the date for accepting the chargesheet. The day was set to receive the chargesheet of the case against the three, including Pori Moni. On that day, they surrendered and applied for bail. After the hearing, the court granted them bail. As the chief judge of the court KM Imrul Kayesh was on leave, the acting judge fixed November 15 to take cognizance of the chargesheet.
On October 13, Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the same court fixed October 26 for taking cognizance of the chargesheet. On October 10, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder accepted the chargesheet in the case. The court then transferred the case to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court for trial.
On that day, Pori Moni's lawyer applied for her permanent bail. Following the hearing, the judge granted her permanent bail. Besides, two accused in the case, Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain, were also granted bail.
On October 4, the investigating officer of the case, CID inspector Kazi Mostafa Kamal, filed a chargesheet against the three, including Pori Moni, in court. The other two accused in the case are Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
Earlier, on August 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh granted bail to Pori Moni till the report was submitted after the hearing. The next day, the actress was released from Kashimpur Central Women's Jail in Gazipur.
On August 4, RAB arrested Pori Moni from her Banani home. The next day, on the afternoon of August 5, she, film producer Raaz and their two accomplices were taken to Banani police station.
