Dhaka: A court has rejected the bail plea of producer Nazrul Islam Raj after a two-day remand in a case under the Narcotics Control Act and ordered him to be sent to jail.

Police produced him in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Friday (August 13th). After that, the investigation officer of the case, CID inspector Gias Uddin, requested to keep him in jail till the investigation of the case is completed.

On the other hand, Raj's lawyer applied for bail. The state opposes bail. After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal rejected the bail application and ordered to send him to jail.

Earlier on Tuesday (August 10), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted a two-day remand in a drug case and a four-day remand in a pornography case.

Producer Raj was produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court at 12:10 pm after a four-day remand. CID then applied for a five-day remand for a proper investigation into the drug case against him. Besides, the police requested to remand Raj for 10 days in a case filed under the Pornography Act of Banani Police Station. Following the hearing, the judge granted a two-day remand in a drug case and a four-day remand in a pornography case.

It may be mentioned that RAB raided Parimani's house in Banani on the afternoon of August 4. After a four-hour operation, he was arrested at around 8 pm and taken to the RAB headquarters. According to the RAB, a large quantity of drugs was seized from his house. The next day, the RAB filed a case against Parimani under the Narcotics Act.
