Pahela Boishakh Pahela Boishakh: Songs of Sadi Mohammad and Anima Roy on BTV today
Entertainment Correspondent, Dhaka, April 14: On the occasion of Bengali New Year, Rabindranath's song 'Chander Hasi Bandh Bhengeche' is being released as a dedication of the Master and Disciple. This Rabindra Sangeet has been arranged by Tanvir Tareq with the voices of Sadi Mohammad and Anima Roy. The song was released on Anima Roy's own YouTube channel.
Legendary Sadi Mohammad is the teacher of popular Rabindra Sangeet artist Anima Roy. This is the first time he has recorded a Rabindra Sangeet with his student.
Regarding the Baishakhi dedication, Anima Roy said, "Holy Boishakh is basically a universal festival of Bengalis. Going beyond religion and caste, Boishakh is an impeccable festival of our Bengali identity. The song was made as a memento of this festival. Sadi Mohammad is my favourite teacher, who has contributed a lot to my becoming a Rabindranath fanatic."
"Me and Sadi sir performed on stage and in TV live programmes together. But in that sense the duet song was never recorded. I tried to give that gift this Baishakh," she said.
Regarding the duet, Sadi Mohammad, a well-known vocalist, said, "Anima is my favorite student. She is a very popular artist today. Her success has always fascinated me. When Tanvir asked me about a duet song with her, I said Tanvir you compose the song, I will sing."
"Recording a song with a dear student is also a feeling of joy. It is a pleasure to be able to make a presentation to my listeners on the Bengali New Year," he said.
Regarding the music arrangement of the song, National Film Award winning music director Tanvir Tareq said, "When I was planning to make Sadi Bhai sing two songs on my tune, Baishakh came in between. I thought I would make a duet song record with Anima on this occasion. That's how the song is created. Which song of Rabindranath will I do? It is also selected by Sadi Bhai. I wanted to put a musical arrangement like mine in the voices of the two of them."
The song 'Chander Hasi Bandh Bhengeche' sung by Saadi Mohammad and Anima Roy will be aired on BTV today, April 14, as a special programme on Pahela Boishakh. The song will also be released in the form of a lyrical video on Anima Roy's official YouTube channel.
