Entertainment Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 20: Khandker Sumon's crowd-funded film 'Saatao' has been nominated for the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India scheduled to be held in Goa, India, from November 20 to 28. It is known that the movie will be screened in the 'Cinema of the World' section during the film festival.

The movie 'Saatao' is based on the life story of marginalized people. Ainun Putul and Fazlul Haque played the lead roles in it.

The director said, in the story of the film, it will be seen that the village farmer Fazlu realizes that the doll is feeling lonely in the new world after marriage. Fazlu buys a cow to alleviate the doll's loneliness. Puthul gets a new companion in his family and starts to forget the pain of leaving his father's house.

Meanwhile, the downstream region is drying up due to one dam after another upstream of the river. In such an unfavorable environment, farmers like Fazlu have to face many problems in farming. The gates of the dams are kept closed until the incessant rains and the upstream overflow. When the gates of the dam were opened again, the huge water that was trapped started flowing into the river.

As the depth of the river is low, the sudden flow of water inundates the lower areas and brings a curse to the lives of people including animals and birds. The happy family of Fazlu and Putul turns sad due to such adverse behavior of the river. The story of 'Saatao' revolves around the struggling life of a farmer, the universal form of women's motherhood, and the happiness and sorrows, laughter and tears of a harmonious community.

Besides directing the movie, Khandker Sumon wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogues.
