130 tons of explosives imported from India

Dhaka, June 7: About 130 metric tonnes of explosives worth about Tk 1.5 crore have been imported from India through Benapole port. On Sunday (June 6) afternoon, the Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited of Dinajpur imported the explosives in nine Indian trucks through the Indian port of Petrapole.

Alamin, a representative of C&F Agent AS International, said Dinajpur Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited was importing 130 metric tonnes of explosives from India at a cost of USD 1,43,436.55, which is about Tk 1.5 crore.

The explosives truck has been kept at the Transhipment Yard No. 31 of Benapole Port.

Necessary documents for clearing have been submitted to customs. Once the paperwork is completed, these explosives will be unloaded from Indian trucks and taken by Bangladeshi trucks. He also said that the trucks would leave Benapole port for Dinajpur later.

Abdul Jalil, acting director (traffic) of Benapole Land Port, said the explosives were imported from India to carry out mining operations at Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited in Dinajpur. Administrative security has been tightened in the port area to avoid untoward incidents. He also said that all measures have been taken to unload the goods quickly.
