1650 metric tons of onion imported by TCB released

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 2 April 2024: One thousand 650 metric tons of onions imported from India have been released at the railway yard of Sirajganj. This is the first consignment of onions imported by Trading Corporation Bangladesh (TCB).

On Monday (April 1) at around 6 am, this shipment of onions arrived in the city. Then the redemption process started around 9 am. Later, the onions were transported by trucks to Dhaka, Gazipur and Chittagong through TCB dealers.

Pratap Kumar, Joint Director of Trading Corporation Bangladesh (TCB) of Bogra Region, said that Indian Railway wagons loaded with onions reached Sirajganj around 6 am. But due to line, 31 wagons arrive first, remaining 11 arrive around 9 am. Redemption process is still going on. He also said that 100 metric tons of onions are being given to dealers in Dhaka from Sirajganj. After that the rest will be distributed among the dealers in Chittagong and Gazipur through us.

Ismail Hossain, in-charge of Sirajganj's Raipur railway station, told Jago News that the first consignment of imported onions has arrived well. Then the redemption process started.
