8.2 pct GDP growth projected in Bangladesh Budget
Dhaka, June 13: In his maiden budget speech as the Finance Minister of the country, AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday projected that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate at 8.2 per cent.
Kamal estimated the figures as the proposed budget for 2019-20 fiscal was projected by him.
“Our commitment is to achieve the growth rate nearly at 10 percent by FY2023-24 and to maintain the rate until 2041 so that we can lay a solid foundation for becoming a high-income country by the time,” the minister was quoted as saying by the media.
“To achieve this objective, the GDP growth rate has been projected at 8.2 per cent for the FY2019-20,” the minister said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will brief the media on the budget presented by her government on Friday.
The press briefing will take place at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka at 3 pm.
