9 organizations bag HSBC Business Excellence Award

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 14: Nine organizations of the country have bagged the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Business Excellence Award.

The HSBC ‘Second Business Excellence Award’ was given to nine companies in recognition of their contribution to accelerating the development of the country and sustaining sustainable growth in the economy during the Corona period.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi handed over the award to the representatives of the winning companies at Hotel Radisson in Dhaka on Sunday (March 13) night. The award was jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission in Dhaka.

Pran-RFL Group, one of the leading multinational enterprises in Bangladesh, has received the Export Excellence Award for its contribution to the country's economy by contributing to the non-traditional and emerging sectors and exporting products.

Apart from the Commerce Minister, special guests on the occasion were British High Commissioner to Dhaka Robert Chatterton Dixon, President of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md. Jasim Uddin, Head of Commercial Banking of HSBC Miss Amanda Murphy and others.

It was informed on the occasion that Pran-RFL Group, which was established in 1981, is one of the reputed business organization of Bangladesh. Pran is Bangladesh's leading exporter of non-conventional goods. The group started with the foundry business and gradually diversified into light engineering, PVC fittings, plastics, food, beverages and agricultural processing.

The company's products have marketing and sales networks in 145 countries across the globe. The group has created more than one lakh 25 thousand jobs directly, while another 15 lakh people are indirectly related to this group. Due to the perseverance and vision of Pran Group, the company has been creating an exceptional trend of business growth from the very beginning. At present, 20 percent of the group's income comes from exports.

Speaking as the special guest, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, "At the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, we were under tremendous pressure to lose business due to nationwide lockdowns and international trade restrictions. We have dealt with this hostile environment through tolerance and strong morale. We have implemented business facilitation policy so that companies can easily import corona antidote and other protective equipment."

British High Commissioner Robert Chatterton Dixon said, "Bangladesh is one of those countries which have witnessed growth in their economies even amid the pandemic. What Bangladesh has achieved in the last 50 years is remarkable. The United Kingdom has been the driver of Bangladesh's development since 1971."
